Course Description
In this course, you will learn about the different types of dementia, including Alzheimer's disease. Dementia, a general term for a decline in mental ability severe enough to interfere with daily life, is a broad term that describes a wide range of symptoms, all of which will be discussed throughout the course. We will also address the treatment options available and offer a variety of methods for supporting the people in your care. By the end of this course, you will be able to:
-Define dementia and know what causes it
-Understand the various types of dementia
-Recognize who is at risk for dementia and how a diagnosis is made
-Understand the treatment options available
-Define patient support measures for caring for patients with dementia
