Course Description
The “Fatal Five” refers to the five leading conditions most often associated with preventable illness, deterioration, or death among individuals in congregate care settings. These conditions—Aspiration, Constipation, Dehydration, Seizures, and Sepsis—can quickly become life-threatening if not recognized and treated promptly.
This course equips direct care staff with the knowledge to identify early warning signs, understand risk factors, and respond appropriately. By improving awareness and recognition, caregivers can significantly reduce the likelihood of severe health outcomes and improve the quality of care for vulnerable individuals.
