Course Description

In this course we will talk about Individual-Directed Outcomes Oriented Planning for Individuals, or IDOOPI, which is a method of planning that is focused on the individual. We will focus on preparing caregivers to listen to and understand what the individual with intellectual or development disabilities wants, needs and desires, and then help the person put those in place. By the end of this course, you will be able to:

-Identify the differences between an individual-directed and a program-centered approach to providing supports

-Demonstrate methods to effectively listen to and understand what the individual wants, needs and desires

-Define self-advocacy and describe ways to promote it in the people you support

-Define what "individual-directed" means

-Identify the four major elements, or parts, of the Individual Plan

-Identify the difference between outcomes and goals

-Identify the parts of the implementation cycle

You will need to complete this Course before you can write a review.
