Course Description
In the last decade, the number of children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder has increased drastically and so has the need for caregivers who are trained in this specialized area. In this training course, learners will be introduced to Autism Spectrum Disorder, a neurological development disorder that can affect all racial, ethnic and socioeconomic groups. We will discuss the various interventions and supports that address the needs of, and improve the quality of life, of the individuals you support.
By the end of this course, you should be able to:
- Define Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)
- Explain the four primary functional areas impacted by ASD (Communication, Sensory Processing, Social Interaction and Behavior)
- Present effective methods and accommodations to interact with someone with ASD
- Discuss treatments and therapies to support someone with ASD
