Course Description
This course will help you better understand what rights people with developmental and intellectual disabilities have and what you can do to help support those rights. We’ll also discuss the responsibilities that come with each right and how you can help the people you support meet those responsibilities. This course will also look at abuse, neglect and exploitation and what is expected of the DSP if any of those things occur.
By the end of this training, you will be able to:
- Define various human rights terms
- Identify the rights of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities
- Recognize abuse, neglect, exploitation and mistreatment
- Discuss what to do when you see or hear about abuse, neglect, exploitation and mistreatment
