This flexible online training package provides essential education for Assisted Living Staff working with elderly individuals and those with developmental disabilities. The program allows staff to complete 20 courses of their choice from our comprehensive catalog of specialized courses to fulfill the 20-hour training requirement.

This course introduces learners to the process of aging and the unique needs of older adults, particularly those with intellectual and developmental disabilities. Participants will explore the physical, psychological, and sensory changes that occur with age, as well as practical strategies for promoting health, independence, and dignity. The course emphasizes the concept of “aging in place” and provides guidance on creating supportive, safe environments that foster well-being throughout the aging process.

This course introduces learners to the fundamentals of effective communication, focusing on listening, understanding, and interaction strategies that foster meaningful connections—especially with individuals with developmental disabilities. Participants will explore the key components of communication, learn how to identify and overcome common barriers, and discover ways to encourage and support expressive communication in others.
